A Unique Approach to “Rallying the Team”

By Sara Staffaroni

The Hoffman Agency, San Jose

The dreaded monthly staff meeting: sitting on uncomfortable chairs as your boss rambles on about the company while you eat stale cookies offered as “treats.”

Or at least, that is what most employees have to endure.

Fortunately, as a new addition, I quickly learned that The Hoffman Agency does staff meetings differently.

Each month, one member of our team is randomly selected to host and develop an intriguing theme for the event. To remind us of our accomplishments and generate excitement for the future, Steve Burkhart, our general manager, chose the theme of the Olympics, naming The Hoffman Agency as the “Gold Medal Team.”

While every team member at The Hoffman Agency is considered a “Gold Medal Star,” three particular staff members were awarded for their recent extraordinary accomplishments.

The first person acknowledged was account executive, Julie Sugishita. Since joining the agency a year ago, she’s contributed a keen sense of strategic vision and impressive media prowess with placements in Business Insider, TechCrunch, VentureBeat and others.

Next was Jacqueline Velasco, our senior account executive, who has been with the agency for more than two years. She has distinguished herself by landing high-profile placements for her clients.

Finally came Bonnie Lamb, our director of editorial services, who has been a part of our team for more than 17 years. She plays the significant role of overseeing the quality of the work that the agency produces.

With these awards, Steve reminded us that dedication to our clients’ happiness and success is always recognized and appreciated at Hoffman. Even though we reward individual success, it is our collective team’s harmonious nature that will win us more gold medals in our future.
