It has been nearly three months since I first stepped foot in The Hoffman Agency office as a nervous intern, unsure of what to expect. I remember walking in that first day with excitement mixed with fear, wondering if I’d be able to keep up, if I’d ask the right questions or if I’d prove myself. Looking back now, it’s amazing to see just how much I’ve grown, not only professionally but personally.
Over the course of these past few months, I’ve had the chance to dive into client work, collaborate with an incredibly supportive team, and sharpen skills that I know will stay with me long after this internship ends.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to be more confident in my work. In the beginning, I second-guessed everything, from the way I drafted emails to how I approached projects. But with guidance from my manager and hands-on experience, I began to trust my instincts, ask for feedback, and take ownership of my assignments.
This internship wasn’t just about learning the technical side of public relations. It was also about learning how to navigate the professional world.
I learned how to prioritize tasks, balance deadlines and work collaboratively across teams. I also saw firsthand the importance of communication, whether that was presenting ideas during team meetings, writing content that resonated with audiences or simply checking in with a coworker to align.
Of course, it wasn’t always easy. Like any new role, there were challenges. At times, I felt overwhelmed when multiple deadlines stacked up or when I was trying to adapt to new processes. But those moments taught me resilience. I learned that it’s OK to ask for help and that leaning on others is not a weakness but a strength. By pushing through those challenges, I walked away more adaptable and resourceful.
Beyond the professional lessons, so many small but memorable moments made this internship special. From coffee breaks to celebrating team wins together to even the lighter moments of laughter in the office, I always felt supported and included. Those connections reminded me that the workplace isn’t just about the work — it’s also about the people.
