Presenting a glimpse inside a PR agency – Singapore Management University (SMU) career talk by our passionate Singapore team!
The Singapore team – represented by Jacintha Ng and Vylvianne Devajothi – gave a career talk at the Singapore Management University (SMU) earlier this month.
Speaking to a seminar room fully packed with wide-eyed wonder students, we shared what life is like in a PR agency as well as interview and career tips to the next generation of communications professionals.
Throughout the presentation, students were asking many questions about the agency culture and the work we have done for our clients. We ended off with Q&As where students dug deeper and were eager to pursue either full-time or internship positions at our agency.
We were thrilled to receive more than 20 full-time job applications and over 10 internship applications. Most importantly, we shared about what we stood for as an agency and the pride in what we do.
Does visual storytelling work at a finance and accounting conference?
You probably wouldn’t associate storytelling techniques with the finance and accounting industry, which is big on pure facts and figures. Most people think that there is no room for storytelling in the finance/accounting industry – much less visual storytelling.
At the 18 May ACCA Singapore Annual Conference 2015 , a regional conference attended by over 400 finance and accounting leaders, visual storytelling took centre stage.
How did that happen?
During the keynote address and panel discussion, a professional doodling artist simultaneously ‘recorded’ the discussion highlights with her doodles.
Here’s how the doodle served as a quick recap of the highlights from the panel discussion about “Developing a Culture of Digital Intrapreneurship”:
As crowds stood around the doodles to snap pictures of them, it reinforced the fact that audiences in the finance/accounting industry are big fans of visual storytelling.
What a fantastic example of visual storytelling in action regardless of the industry and subject matter!
It’s just one more proof point that visual storytelling is even more crucial for industries beyond the consumer space.
