The narrative is dominated by a relatively small number of largely US-founded companies. While these organisations will play a significant role in the future development of AI in coming years, for many reasons it is essential that Europe’s AI ecosystem thrives.
The good news – as our research into AI companies in the UK, France, and the DACH region highlights – is that there already exists a substantial number of European businesses across the entire AI stack: from semiconductors and hardware, through foundation models, software and tools, and, of course, the myriad applications being built upon these.
